Te Ara Tūhono - ACC Navigation support

Te Ara Tūhono is a free, kaupapa Māori ACC navigation service that empowers kiritaki and whānau to confidently navigate ACC services in a way that respects and uplifts Māori values. Our kaiarahi (navigator) walk alongside kiritaki and whānau, providing support, independent advice, and clear guidance so every kiritaki can understand their rights, access appropriate services, and feel informed throughout their ACC journey.

What We Provide

  • Culturally grounded support for understanding and accessing ACC services, tailored to the needs and values of kiritaki and their whānau.

  • Free, independent guidance through every step of the ACC process, answering claim questions and helping kiritaki understand their entitlements.

  • Kanohi ki te kanohi (face-to-face) and community-based advocacy delivered by Māori providers—supportive, welcoming, and without judgement.

  • Preparation and information for ACC reviews, so kiritaki feel confident, heard, and supported.

  • Empowerment for whānau to make informed choices and access the right support networks.

  • If we don’t have the answer, we will always seek the correct information for you.

What we can’t provide

  • Legal advice, legal representation, or acting as a lawyer in ACC disputes or legal proceedings.

  • Medical, clinical, or therapeutic treatment—our team does not diagnose or provide healthcare, but helps connect kiritaki with suitable services.

  • Calculation of financial compensation or direct intervention in formal ACC complaint procedures.

  • Management of personal finances or acting on a kiritaki behalf in official matters.

  • Provide advocacy or acting on kiritaki and whānau behalf including making decisions.
