We are excited to share that along with our collective partnership we will be launching our Disability abuse prevention and response services very soon. Please check back for more information over the next few weeks.

Disability abuse prevention and response services
DAPAR is a response service for disabled adults, tangata whaikaha Māori and whānau who may be experiencing abuse, neglect, or who feel at risk of harm.
Our mahi is intensive, personal, grounded in mātauranga Māori and respect. We work directly alongside the disabled person, listening carefully to their story, their needs, and their hopes. Together, we build pathways to the right supports as chosen by the disabled person so they can live safely, with dignity, and free from abuse or neglect.
At the heart of Te Ahi Kaa is the belief that every disabled person, Tangata Whaikaha Māori and whānau has the right to be valued, protected, and connected to support that upholds their mana and their whakapapa. Our role isn’t just to respond to immediate risks, but to help ensure long-term well-being and safety.
Through aroha, understanding, and action, DAPAR provides more than a service – we stand as a source of strength and protection, so disabled adults, tangata whaikaha Māori and whānau can focus on living well, feeling respected, and being safe within their communities.
